What a wonderful piece of news to start the blog section of the website ! Bong Joon-Ho’s masterpiece, Memories of Murder, is being released on blu-ray for the first time ever (at least, in France). Memories of Murder was released in 2003 and is considered as the film which began the South Korean new wave. You can read my review here.
On July 11th, 2018, two editions are going to hit the shelves : a collector’s edition and an ultimate edition. Both editions are coming out courtesy of La Rabbia studio and are Region B/2 encoded.
The collector’s edition comes in the form of a digibook. It includes the film on blu-ray, the film on DVD, a bonus features DVD and a 40-page booklet.
Some of the special features include : an exclusive documentary from Jésus Castro, an audio commentary, deleted scenes and various featurettes.
The ultimate edition of Memories of Murder is limited to 2.500 copies. It is similar to the collector’s edition described above but comes with additional packaging (a beautiful black casing) and a print of the original storyboard translated into french.
These editions do not seem to include english subtitles so these items may only interest people who highly appreciate Memories of Murder and collect foreign editions. I have pre-ordered the ultimate edition and will surely show it in details.
